Exceptional Longevity.

As the island's sole fabricator of solid aluminum standing seam roofing, our mission is to redefine Roatan roofing excellence.

Our roofing system is comprised of PVDF-coated solid aluminum panels with interlocking seams, as well as concealed stainless-steel clips which are attached to the roof deck. These components lock together in place to create a highly attractive, tightly sealed, and exceedingly durable roof covering. By combining the superiority of solid aluminum with the advantages of a standing seam system, it can withstand the island elements, as well as the test of time.

And upkeep is simple! By following our straightforward care instructions, your solid aluminum roof should easily outlast our 30-year warranty.

why solid aluminum?

Aluminum is a superior roofing material, enduring in Roatan’s tropical climate.

Corrosion-Resilient

Salt spray is simply no match for solid aluminum, because aluminum doesn't rust! Our roofing panels are also PVDF coated to prevent oxidization and color fading — making them all the more ideal for our coastal climate.

Extremely Lightweight

One of the lightest roofing materials available, aluminum is easy to work with and minimizes structural stress versus heavier options (which can require additional framing to support).

High Tensile Strength

Solid aluminum carries the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any metal roofing material, and can withstand significant tensile stress and stretching without fracturing. It's as strong or stronger than heavier roofing options.

Energy Efficient

Aluminum is able to reflect more sunlight & heat compared to other roofing options, and our PVDF coating can achieve over 70% solar reflection. This helps to reduce your home's carbon footprint, not to mention ongoing cooling costs.

Fire Resistant

Aluminum and our PVDF coating are non-flammable materials, meaning your roof is completely fire safe. Not only does this provide welcome peace of mind, it's also favorable for homeowner's insurance rates.

Rainwater Friendly

PVDF-coated solid aluminum is the gold standard for rainwater harvesting. It's non-porous, non-toxic, and mildew-resistant as well as being free from adhesives and other metals. Standing seam roofs also provide the highest water collection efficiency available.

Exceptional Longevity

In certain climates, solid aluminum roofs have been known to last up to 80 years. We provide a 30 year warranty on the roofing panels we fabricate, though with proper care, your roof's lifespan can easily exceed that by decades.

Low Maintenance

An aluminum roof requires very basic upkeep. Keeping nearby trees trimmed back, removing debris, and washing periodically with fresh water will keep your roof looking its best while helping extend its already remarkable lifespan.

Cost Effective

While the initial cost is higher than most other roofing materials, solid aluminum's durability and longevity means it's a single investment. Imagine having a roof that never needs replacing within your lifetime!

Innovative Installation

Hidden stainless steel fasteners are affixed to the roof deck in vertical rows via stainless steel screws, then each roofing panel is clipped into a row of fasteners along one seam. The adjoining panel then snaps and locks tightly over the clipped seam.

Fixed aluminum eaves pin the panels in place, while floating aluminum ridge caps are secured tightly at the peak via aluminum Z-flashing. The entire system creates a fully sealed roof which allows for virtually unlimited movement under thermal expansion.

Sophisticated Style

Clean and modern, yet with a certain classic elegance, our standing seam roofing has the aesthetic versatility to add appeal to any Roatan property. Narrow vertical lines running from the eaves to the ridge are separated by a smooth profile with no visible fasteners, creating a striking visual effect.

High Endurance

Not only are standing seam roofs visually appealing, they’re also incredibly durable and weathertight. When installed correctly, standing seam roofs have been able to withstand winds of up to 215 mph.

Unlike standard metal roofing installation, the exposed panels remain completely un-penetrated by screws, helping prevent water infiltration. And since the fasteners are protected from direct exposure to the elements, the longevity of all components is greatly enhanced.

FAQ

Learn more about our solid aluminum standing seam roofing.

All of the components we fabricate are from 24-gauge 3105-H22 aluminum (minimum 98% aluminum alloy with nominal additions for improved strength), which has undergone ASTM B290 Method testing and inspection for quality assurance.
Our aluminum is coated with Kynar 500®, a resin commonly known as polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). Consisting of mostly carbon/fluoride bonds, PVDF is similar in chemical structure to Teflon®. With its superior chemistry, PVDF far outperforms other coating options in film integrity, color retention, chalk resistance, dirt resistance, and gloss retention.

At this time, we stock pre-coated solid aluminum coils in the following colors, in order to readily fabricate standing seam panels on demand:

  • White
  • Charcoal Grey

Custom Color Requests:

Our supplier offers hundreds of color options which can be ordered and shipped. As the coating is applied to the coils in batches upon order, minimum batch quantities apply for any specific color. In the event that the minimum batch quantity isn’t met, smaller quantities may still be ordered for a surcharge. Special-request colors are also subject to wait times for shipping and import.

  • Each standing seam panel is 14 inches wide, and we’re able to produce lengths of up to 50 feet.
  • Ridge cap sections are 10 inches wide by up to 10 feet long.
  • Eave drip sections are 7 inches wide (partially concealed after installation) by up to 10 feet long.
  • Z-flashing sections (completely concealed by the ridge caps) are also up to 10 feet long.
  • For fasteners, we use 1-1/2″ snap lock panel clips in 18-gauge stainless steel, which are secured to the roof deck with 1″ stainless steel screws.

While not a drawback, per say, an important consideration is that aluminum is highly ductile, meaning it’s flexible and formable, and can endure a great deal of stress without losing its strength. Simply put, it’s the opposite of brittle. Aluminum’s ductility is helpful for fabricating our roofing panels with precision, as well as preventing cracks or breaks in your roof. But this same attribute makes it more susceptible to cosmetic denting, so care should be taken to prevent this.

To minimize the risk of denting, aluminum roofing should be installed over sheathing, kept free from overhanging branches, and foot traffic should be limited to supported sections, especially on ridge caps.

Aluminum is considered a high-end roofing material not only because of its superior performance, but also because of its material cost. This is influenced by several different factors, including the specific extraction and production processes required to refine bauxite ore, from which aluminum is derived, as well as supply tightness. Additionally, importation adds to our fabrication costs, as the PVDF-coated aluminum coils need to be sourced from abroad.

Despite these factors, our product remains more affordable to Roatan homeowners than purchasing & importing prefabricated aluminum roofing from the U.S. (which is otherwise the most direct means of obtaining it).  Furthermore, the higher initial cost is offset by aluminum’s long-term benefits, ultimately providing better value over time.

As we’re asked this question so frequently, we’ve created a separate post to provide an in-depth comparison: Aluzinc vs Aluminum: Which is Right for Your Roatan Roof?

Our solid aluminum standing seam roofing is available for purchase with or without installation included, and we’re happy to quote either option.

Due to the unique installation techniques for this product, we recommend that our systems only be installed by roofers who have prior experience with standing seam roofing. Our warranty cannot fully cover panels which have been incorrectly handled or installed.

Absolutely. In these cases, we typically outsource for the preparative work (removal of the existing roofing material, performance of repairs to the sheathing if necessary, and installation of the underlayment). From there, our team skillfully handles the installation of your new roof.

Yes, of course. Our team are roofing installation experts, so while our solid aluminum standing seam system is the only roofing product we fabricate ourselves, we do all sorts of Roatan roofing projects. We can order and capably install almost any other type of roofing desired.

For homes or other roofed structures being built by Webster Construction, the roofing material to be installed may not be our solid aluminum standing seam roofing, as each project is tailored to the client’s specific needs and budget. Please refer to your project quote and/or contract for the specific roofing included with your project.
